iPhone Prices in Indonesia Over the Years

What every iPhone since the iPhone 16 cost at its official Indonesian launch, from Rp 12.5 million for the iPhone 16e to Rp 45.7 million for the iPhone Duo, and why the price and timing kept changing.

Every September, Apple launches a new iPhone. Then I wait to find out two things: when it reaches Indonesia, and how much it costs here. This time I looked at the recent generations. I collected the official launch price of every iPhone sold in Indonesia since the iPhone 16 series, from the iPhone 16e in April 2025 to the iPhone Duo this month.

A few notes on how I counted:

  • Each price is the official launch price for each model and storage size.
  • "Official" means sold through Apple Authorized Resellers here, such as Erajaya (iBox and Erafone) and Digimap.
  • Prices are in rupiah and are not adjusted for inflation.
  • Base storage went from 128 GB on most iPhone 16 models to 256 GB on every model since the iPhone 17.

Prices are official launch prices in Indonesian rupiah (Rp), not adjusted for inflation. An empty cell means Apple did not sell that storage size for that model.

The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max prices are the prices on launch day, April 11, 2025, which included a reseller discount. For example, the iPhone 16 128 GB had a list price of Rp 16.999.000. The iPhone 16e had no discount.

The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone. Pre-orders opened on October 23, 2026, and it goes on sale on October 30, 2026. The 256 GB price of Rp 45.678.910 is the figure iBox published.

So far, the 2026 lineup in Indonesia is the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Duo.

What changed since the iPhone 16

The price went up, and so did the storage

The iPhone 16 had a list price of Rp 16.999.000 for 128 GB. The iPhone 17 launched at Rp 17.249.000 in 2025, but with 256 GB. That is only Rp 250.000 more for double the storage.

The cheaper models moved the same way. The iPhone 16e started at Rp 12.499.000 for 128 GB. The iPhone 17e started at Rp 13.499.000, with 256 GB.

The Pro models are moving faster. The iPhone 17 Pro started at Rp 23.749.000. One year later, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rp 27.499.000, almost 16% more.

The rupiah sets a lot of the price

The rupiah against the US dollar is a big part of why prices jump. Erajaya has said for years that it sets iPhone prices based on the exchange rate.

The gap with the US price is large too. Part of that gap is tax. US prices exclude sales tax, while Indonesian prices already include VAT.

Local content rules (TKDN) decide when iPhones arrive

Since 2017, 4G phones sold in Indonesia must meet a local content requirement called TKDN (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri). Apple did not build phones here. It met the rule through investment instead, starting with a research center in BSD, Tangerang.

The iPhone 16 got blocked

The biggest delay was the iPhone 16. In late 2024, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) blocked iPhone 16 sales because Apple had not met its investment commitment for TKDN. In February 2025, the two sides agreed on a new investment plan. Kemenperin issued the TKDN certificates in March 2025, and the iPhone 16 went on sale on April 11, 2025, about seven months after the global launch.

Resellers launched it with a discount. The list price was Rp 16.999.000, but it sold for Rp 14.999.000 at launch. Six months later, the iPhone 17 arrived.

Launches got faster

Apart from the iPhone 16, local launches now follow the global date closely. The iPhone 17 series arrived in October 2025, and the iPhone 18 Pro arrived in October 2026, only a few weeks after the US.

Closing

If you buy a new iPhone at launch in Indonesia today, the regular model costs about Rp 17 million and the Pro models start at about Rp 27.5 million. The rupiah, the tax, and the local content rules explain most of the gap with the US, not just Apple. My advice: watch the exchange rate, and don't assume the global launch date applies here.
